Early Childhood Development (Certificate)
About the Program
The Early Childhood Development Intermediate Technical Certificate prepares students with the skills needed to work in an entry-level position that pertains to careers with children ages 0-5. Examples may include a childcare provider or an early childhood classroom aide. The program emphasizes cognitive development, fine/gross motor physical development, social and emotional development, language and literacy development, and self-help skills of children birth through age eight. Students engage in hands-on experiential learning through an internship placement at an approved early child classroom
Entry into the ITC degree option requires that students work with children in practicum settings. Students enrolling in this degree option must complete an application packet including:
ECD Program Application Criminal Background Check and Fingerprinting Current Certification in Pediatric CPR/First Aid TB Clearance Proof of a Physical Exam Students will not be allowed to register for courses in the program beyond the first semester without a completed application packet. Instructions for completing the application packet will be provided by the program advisor.
