About the Program

The Paraprofessional Education program prepares teaching assistants to work in K-12 schools in special education, reading, and general education classrooms. The program articulates with the core requirements of the Elementary Teacher Education program while providing needed coursework to improve student learning. This degree is designed for teaching assistants and early childhood care providers.

Program Requirements

  • Professional Writing Academic Certificate Reqmts complete the following 3 requirements
    21 credits
    Professional Writing Academic Certificate requires 21 credits. See Catalog for additional informaiton.
    Take ENGL 308 and 497.
    ENGL308 - Survey of Pro Writing

    ENGL497 - Pro Writing Capstone
    1 credit
    Take 9 credits, from Creative Writing courses ENGL 209, 211, 212, 303, 306, or 362, or Professional/Academic Writing courses ENGL 203, 300, 304, 305, 385, or 405.
    ENGL209 - Creat Writ:Nonfiction

    ENGL211 - Creat Writ:Poetry

    ENGL212 - Creat Writ:Fiction
